Reykjavik University History

Reykjavik University was established in the year 1998. It is a private university situated in Reykjavik in Iceland. It was started as the Commercial College of Iceland but later its name changed to Reykjavik University. Two of its initial departments were business and computer science.

Reykjavik University Programs, Courses and Schools

Reykjavik University is divided into four academic schools for business, computer science, law and science and engineering. The university offers students with programs like, undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, research and foundation courses in variety of areas of study.

Average class size of each class is low. Faculties of the university are acclaimed and skilled in their field of study. There is also an Open University offering professional courses.

Reykjavik University has an urban campus with natural surroundings. Reykjavik University is known for its research publications and studies. The Times Higher Education ranked the university in the range of 101-200 in its overall ranking and is also among the top 350 universities of the world. It is among the top 100 best young universities of the world. In 2016, 245 articles in conferences and 177 articles in scholarly journals were published by the university’s scientists.

Scholarships, both private and government funded, and other financial assistances are offered by the university to the students. They have to meet the criteria set by the university to achieve it.
