Riga Technical University History
Riga Technical University was established in the year 1862 as Riga Polytechnicum and was renamed to Riga Polytechnical Institute in 1896. The university relocated to Moscow during World War I and returned to join the newly established University of Latvia in 1918. The institute was re-established in 1958 after splitting from University of Latvia and was eventually renamed to Riga Technical University in 1990.
