Saint Louis University 

SLU is a private Jesuit research university having campuses in both St. Louis, Missouri, and Madrid, Spain. It is the oldest institution west of the Mississippi River and the second-oldest Jesuit university in the United States, having been founded in 1818 by Louis William Valentine DuBourg. It is one of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities' 27 member institutions.  The North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools has granted university accreditation.

Saint Louis University History

The Saint Louis Academy was founded on November 16, 1818, by the Most Reverend Louis William Valentine DuBourg, Bishop of Louisiana and Florida, and placed under the charge of the Reverend François Niel and others of the secular clergy attached to the Saint Louis Cathedral is the forerunner of Saint Louis University. It all started in a private home beside the Mississippi River in a residential area. Saint Louis University was one of the first Catholic universities to offer lay people more influence when it did so in 1967.

The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education classifies Saint Louis University as a Research II institution. Associated General Contractors named the Department of Planning and Construction a Keystone Award Finalist for the Center for Global Citizenship project, which was completed in 2013. SLU's Midtown St. Louis campus spans 282 acres (114.1 hectares) and houses 129 buildings. Saint Louis University is split into two campuses: one in St. Louis, Missouri, and the other in Madrid, Spain main campus is within walking distance of St. Louis' performing arts center, the Cortex Innovation District (one of the reasons St. Louis is one of the top startup cities in America), and Prospect Yards, a new urban social and economic hub. SLU offers tour options that allow people to see the campus in a day or spend a whole weekend getting to know St. Louis. It is an easy trip from more than 300 towns.

 There are four libraries at Saint Louis University. The general academic library is the Pius XII Memorial Library. There are about 1 million volumes, 6,000 journal subscriptions, and 140 electronic databases in its collection. More sitting and study places, defined noise zones, and the development of an Academic Technology Commons are among the recent upgrades. The Knights of Columbus Vatican Film Library is a one-of-a-kind microfilm collection focusing on manuscripts kept in the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana. The law collection is housed in the Omer Poos Law Library, which is part of the School of Law. The Medical Center Library at SLU is dedicated to the health and medical community.

 Saint Louis University Medical services

   Saint Louis University has Student Health Center on campus that provides all medical services. The Saint Louis University Student Health Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding University holidays. Students should call 911 promptly if they have a medical or psychiatric emergency and arrange for ambulance evacuation to the nearest hospital. They can contact the Department of Public Safety at 314-977-3000 in case of an emergency on campus. The Student Health Center at Saint Louis University provides a wide range of medical services, from basic cold treatment to specialized care for previous medical issues.
