Southern Federal University History
Southern Federal University also known as SFedU is a public research university located in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The university was established in 1915 as an affiliate part of Imperial University of Warsaw and was later renamed to Rostov State University in 1957. The university adopted its present name in 2006 and enrolls over 44,000 students at present.

Southern Federal University is home to a number of faculties offering a wide range of programs. Some of its faculties are Faculty of Biology and Soil Science, Faculty of Geology & Geography, Faculty of Philosophy & Cultural Studies, Faculty of Linguistics & Philology, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics & Computer Sciences, Faculty of Advanced Training & Professional Development for Teachers, and Faculty of Social and Political Science.
Southern Federal University also houses a number of research centres catering to the researcher and academic community. These centres include R&D Center on Piezoelectric Engineering, Institute of Economics and International Relations, Pedagogical Institute, Taganrog Institute of Technology, Institute of Architecture & Arts, and The Smart Materials Research Center.

Southern Federal University is spread across two campuses in Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog. The university campus offers a wide range of services to its students such as classrooms, lecture theatres, libraries, computer labs, Wi-Fi, and Counselling services to name a few.
Southern Federal University campus is spread over an area of 229,470 square meters out of which 8628 square meter area is occupied by the state-of-the-art sports and fitness complex. The university offers 9 halls of residence in Rostov campus and 7 in Taganrog.
