University of Colima History

University of Colima was established in the year 1940. It is a public university which is situated in Colima in Mexico. It was set up as People’s University of Colima but it gained its autonomy in 1962 and was no more the part of state education system. The foundation of the university was laid on the philosophy of the President.

University of Colima Programs, Courses and Schools

University of Colima is organised into 27 academic faculties offering multidisciplinary degree programs. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs. Students can also apply for research studies, professional degree programs, associate degrees, student exchange program and diplomas.

It is the home to more than 400 faculty members out of which most of them are trained, skilled and hold graduate degrees in their area of study. It also admits high school students offering APO programs. Additional courses include CIEES programs, training sessions and language courses. Internships and special programs can also be applied for.

University of Colima Campuses

University of Colima is spread across the state with many off its campuses, most of which is hold urban architecture. University campuses are very secure with services like cafeteria, semi-Olympic pool, recreational areas, studio, theatre, auditorium, sports facility, athletic field, cultural centre, innovation and research centres, wellness unit, gym and student development centre. There are internal student clubs for fun and frolic. Student media has radio channel, TV channel, newsletter and publications.

It is composed of 21 specialised and multidisciplinary libraries with books, repositories, study material, reading material, research guides and subjective books. Services provided include library loans, digital library, renewal services, cubicles and study rooms, computer equipments and renewal services.

University of Colima is one of the most prestigious universities of the country. The Times Higher Education has ranked it among top 500 universities of the world for its social impact. In web university rankings, it is among the top 20 best Mexican universities and at 112 in Latin America. It is also known for its sports teams which have won many tournaments. Its short film has been nominated for Ariel 2020 Awards and its student won second place in International Piano Competition.

Students are also offered with scholarships, grants and financial assistances which helps students in bearing their expenses. They have to apply for these.
