University of Kashmir History

University of Kashmir is an Indian higher education establishment located in the city of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The university was established in year 1948 and serves as the leading public education provider in the city and surrounding areas.

University of Kashmir is based on a 263 acre suburban campus near the shores of picturesque Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The university campus is regarded as one of the most beautiful campuses in the country owing to the Himalayan mountains forming the backdrop of the university buildings which house the faculties and student services.

University of Kashmir is also running smaller facilities in the towns of Anantnag and Baramulla in addition to developing its existing infrastructure. The Allama Iqbal Library in the university comprises of a number of study spaces in addition to over 600000 books as well as 415 rare manuscripts.

University of Kashmir Achievements

University of Kashmir is classified as Grade A+ university by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council or NAAC, India. The university was also ranked 150th in the BRICS Rankings 2020 by QS World University Rankings.

University of Kashmir was also ranked 78th in India overall and 48th in the universities category in the NIRF or National Institutional Ranking Framework in year 2020.

University of Kashmir is home to number of research centers such as University Science & Instrumentation Centre, Educational Multimedia Research Centre, State Resource Centre, and Public Relations Centre to name few which attracts number of academics and researchers.

University of Kashmir also offers a number of merit based and need based scholarships to students to assist them with tuition fee. The university also offers residential facilities for both students and teaching and non-teaching staff as well.
