University of Management and Technology History
University of Management and Technology also known as UMT is a private Pakistani university located in Johar Town, Lahore. The university was established in 1990 as a project of Institute of Leadership and Management or ILM and was conferred independent university status in 2002. The university currently enrolls over 16,000 students and employs 2000 plus staff.
University of Management and Technology Programs, Courses and Schools
University of Management and Technology offers over 125 programs overall out of which 50 are undergraduate level, 60 are graduate level, and 16 are doctoral level programs. Some of the subjects on offer are Business, Information Technology, Food Science, English, Law, Linguistics, Media, Aviation, Engineering, and Dairy Science.
University of Management and Technology is also home to number of research centers and institutes such as China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Knowledge Future, Exclusive Education, Human rights and Justice, Nordic European Studies, Academic Writing Center, and Supply Chain Research which cater to research and academic community.
University of Management and Technology Campuses
University of Management and Technology has its primary campus located in the suburb of Johar Town in Lahore, Pakistan. The campus is spread over an area of 25 acres and houses classrooms, science and engineering labs, learning resource centre, mosque, cafeteria, sports grounds, and library.
University of Management and Technology also has a smaller campus in the city of Sialkot in Pakistan. The campus comprises of laboratories, multimedia classrooms, wireless internet, learning resource center, and computer labs. The university is currently in the process of expanding the Sialkot campus by acquiring the land around the campus.

University of Management and Technology is one of the few universities in the country to be accredited by Association of Advance Collegiate Institutions of Business (AACSB), Association of Management Development Institutions in Pakistan, Asia Pacific Quality Network, and European Foundation for Management Development.

1. Remote Area Scholarship
The Remote Area Scholarships are offered by the University of Management and Technology to students from the under-privileged background and remote areas of the country. The scholarship is open only for extraordinary Pakistani students who intend to study any program at the university.
Eligibility Criteria/Scholarship Guidelines
- Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and the university will not offer any extension to the scholarship under any circumstances. The student has to complete the enrolled program in the prescribed duration only.
- The student is not eligible to apply for any other scholarship at the university. A student can avail only one award at a time.
- The student must have at least 65% marks or 2.50 CGPA in the previous qualification.
How to apply
The student can apply for the scholarship by submitting the application form along with the required documents either via an online process or manual process. Followed by an interview with the Remote Area Scholarship Committee would determine the applicant’s selection for the reward.
2. Merit Scholarship for PhD students on the basis of Masters MPhil or 18 Years degree
The Merit Scholarship for PhD students are awarded by the University of Management and Technology on the basis of the merit achieved in Masters, MPhil, or 18 Years degree to students intending to study any doctoral program at the university.
