Xavier University History
Xavier University is a Jesuit university located in Cincinnati and Norwood, Ohio. It is the fourth oldest Jesuit University and the sixth oldest Catholic university in the United States. The University was established in 1831. The University was then called The Athenaeum. Later the University's name was changed a second time to its current name, Xavier University, in 1930.

Xavier University offers The St. Francis Xavier scholarship which is full tuition, four-year scholarship. It is awarded annually to up to 10 incoming first-year students with exceptional academic achievement and outstanding leadership involvement in their community and/or school. Any student who applies for admission is automatically evaluated for one of these awards. These academic scholarships and award amounts ranged from $5,000 to $20,000 annually. These awards are renewable for a total of four years as long as students maintain a minimum GPA and remain enrolled full-time.

Xavier University campus covers approximately 190 acres. In the middle of the campus are the Gallagher Student Center and Bellarmine Chapel. Bellarmine Chapel's roof is in the shape of a hyperbolic paraboloid, also called a saddle roof, which will not collapse even if the Chapel walls were removed. The Campus also has an Academic Mall, Residential Mall, Across Victory, Cintas Center, and Cohen Center.

Xavier University Library is named the McDonald Library which is located on the academic mall closed to Dana Avenue. Conaton Learning Commons comprises study spaces, lounges, and conference and instruction spaces. There are 13 group study rooms and also they have the Connection Center in the same building.
