University of the Free State History                                      

University of the Free State is a South African higher education establishment located in Bloemfontein, Free State. The university was established as Grey College in 1904 and conferred university status in 1950. It adopted its present name in 2001 and currently enrols over 37000 students.

University of the Free State comprises of eight academic divisions including Economic and Management Sciences, Education, Health Sciences, Law, Natural and Agricultural Sciences, Humanities, Theology and Religion, and Business which offer a range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

University of the Free State is based across three campuses in Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa in Free State Province, South Africa. Out of the three campuses two are based in Bloemfontein and the main campus houses the university’s administrative headquarters.
