Yarmouk University History                                        

Yarmouk University also known as YU is a Jordanian public university located in the city of Irbid. The university was established in the year 1976 under the aegis of the Jordanian Government and currently enrolls over 34000 students and employs 1000 plus staff.

Yarmouk University Programs, Courses, and Schools

Yarmouk University offers a range of programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. In total, there are 52 Bachelor Degrees, 64 Master Degrees, and 18 Doctoral Degrees on offer across 15 faculties in addition to 12 research and development centers.

Yarmouk University offers programs in Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, Arabic Language, English, Modern Languages, Business and Management, Medicine, History, Sociology, Social Work, Geography, Fine Arts, Drama, and Design to name a few.

Yarmouk University Campuses

Yarmouk University has an urban campus spread over an area of 250 acres in the city or Irbid in Jordan. The university campus comprises of a number of Arab architecture inspired buildings which house all the faculties, research centers, and administrative offices.

Yarmouk University offers a range of services to students including purpose built classrooms and lecture halls, library with books, journals, and periodicals, a university press, halls of residence, and open spaces for students to study. The university also offers extensive sports facilities.

Yarmouk University is regarded as one of the top universities in the Arab and Middle east region. It is ranked 28th in the Arab University Rankings and amongst top 600 in the world for Computer Sciences and Information Systems by QS Top Universities.

Yarmouk University is also ranked amongst top 400 universities in the world in the Young University Rankings published by Times Higher Education. Times also ranks the university amongst top 1100 in the world and top 400 in Asia in various rankings.

Yarmouk University has a student to faculty ratio of 28:1 and is an averagely accepting institution. The university also has a range of collaborations and partnerships with institutions worldwide for student exchange programs and shared research projects.

Yarmouk University also publishes its own newspaper in addition to the Yarmouk University Press which publishes a number of journals and periodicals. The university also has an active student union offering a range of associations and clubs to join.
