Cayetano Heredia University History
Cayetano Heredia University is a private non-profit university located in Lima, Peru. The university was established in the year 1961 by the group of professors and students from the medical school of the four-century-old National University of San Marcos in Lima. It is considered one of the top medical schools in Peru, along the Faculty of Medicine "San Fernando" of National University of San Marcos), and is currently one of the major producers and publishers of scientific research in the country.

Cayetano Heredia University offers 13 Master’s programs, 10 Doctorate programs, also offer post-doctorate programs and 15 graduate programs. The university also includes courses for students. The university has different 8 faculties. It is a rather small school (under 2,000 students) that focuses on the disciplines of medicine, dentistry, natural sciences, public health, veterinary medicine, nursing, psychology, and education. It grants baccalaureate degrees as well as masters and doctoral degrees in biochemistry, biotechnology, medicine, biology, and a Master of Health Administration.

Cayetano Heredia University has 4 campuses and other headquarters where classes are taught and laboratories and clinical centers are located. All in the city of Lima. These are complemented, to generate an outstanding academic environment in which you will continue your studies.
The Central Campus is located near important hospital centers that facilitate the practice of students of health sciences. Our central campus gathers laboratories, classrooms, university clinics where the classes of all the undergraduate courses are taught from the second year, except Psychology.
The campus houses the Rectorate, and the undergraduate courses in Health Administration, the Faculties of Sciences and Philosophy, Stomatology, Nursing, Medicine, Public Health and Health Administration, Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics are taught.

Cayetano Heredia University, Cayetone Researchers receive Latin American Research Awards (LARA) from Google. The Institution of Medicine Tropical Alexander von Humboldt (Tropical medication Institute) is among the highest research establishments in medicine in Latin America, with current investigations in tuberculosis, leishmaniasis, malaria, and HIV, both at its site in Lima and at several field sites such as Iquitos, Cuzco, and La Merced. The institute is internationally recognized for the Gorgas Course in Clinical Tropical Medicine, given jointly with UAB.
