Gebze Technical University History

Gebze Technical University was established in the year 1992. The university was earlier known as the Gebze Institute of Technology. It is one of the two technical universities established in Turkey. The university is the title holder of the “research university” given by the Council of Higher Education. It is the youngest and experienced university and is eligible to be one of the important science base of the country. It started its undergraduate and graduate education in different years.

Gebze Technical University Programs, Courses and Schools

Gebze Technical University is a well-known university as far as the academics is concerned. The university has got two campuses namely Cayirova Campus and Muallimkoy Campus. The university offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral based programs to the students. There are four faculties and departments namely Engineering Faculty, Faculty of Basic Science, Faculty of Management and Faculty of Architecture, nine institutes and three Departments under the Rectorate. Under these faculties and institutes, various undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs are offered by the university.

The university is equipped with highly qualified and expert faculties in order to guide students for their future. As of 2018, the university is providing education to more than 8000 students. The university is famous for its research programs.

Gebze Technical University Campuses

Gebze Technical University has two campuses namely Cayirova Campus which covers the area of 245,000 square meters and Muallimkoy Campus which covers the area of 3,800,000 square meters. These two campuses have many departments functioning in it. The university has got the green campus. It is an urban infrastructure which provides students with cafeteria, athletic arena, auditoriums, halls, classrooms, laboratories for each department, healthcare facilities and theatre. The campus is completely safe for the students. Students can become the part of around 35 registered student clubs and get involved in around 300 activities organised by them.

The university’s library is located in the Cayirova Campus and covers the area of 4,177 square meters. The library highly stocked with more than 10,000 books and periodicals, 9705 e-journals, magazines and databases. The library provides digital access to the various databases and digital media for the students and faculties to study and go for their research work.

Gebze Technical University is a well known university in Turkey. It has been ranked among top universities by various ranking portals. It has been ranked among top 2000 universities globally and among top 100 universities nationally after fulfilling certain criteria. The university is ranked fifth nationally and first among the state university in showing increase in the number of scientific publications in international publications in 2018. The university is also doing good on sports.
