Hiroshima Institute of Technology 

History 

Hiroshima Institute of Technology is a private university located in Hiroshima; Japan. The University was established in 1961 by Tsuru Gakuen (founded by Noboru Tsuru) for a two-year college. The first department that opened in the university was the Department of Electronics, which was established in 1 April 1961. In 1963, it was established as a four-year university. The university was renamed Hiroshima Institute of Technology in 1963.Hiroshima Institute of Technology has mainly three faculties. Engineering, applied information science and environmental studies. The university also offers a study abroad program for students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Trinity Western University.

Administration

For administrative responsibility of the University, Yasushi NAGASAKA has been serving as the president of the university since 2019. There are two co-chairs-Toshinobu MAEHARA and Yoshinari OGURO. There is a Dean in every faculty.

Code of Conduct of the HIT

HIT University is a highly disciplined institution. It has its own laws and rules, which every person related to the university, must follow. The charter of the university clearly contains a code of conduct for the students, for the faculty and for all the members of the university, which is required to be obeyed. The university believes in its motto and along with education considers the motto to be very important which we can define in three key words- society, environment and ethics. Along with technical education, the university also considers human values ​​important. If you keep dreaming of becoming a part of this university, then you will need to inculcate those human values ​​in your life.

USP of the HIT

The USP of the university is its high human value which emphasizes not on making the students robots but on making humans. The university believes that the main aim of education should be the betterment of the society. The university promotes high quality education, promotion of human rights, works for the welfare of the society, student oriented campus, emphasis on high level research, encourages equitable behavior. According to university from 2024 first year students of all departments will be required to take the “Introduction to AI and data science” and it will be become very futuristic approach for the students and world education.

 New start for the students

The university has introduced its own, original system allowing students to keep a time series-based record of their various university activities and experiences, including course completion planning, extracurricular activities, future planning and job search activities.  

Special for the female students

The “Joshigakusei Career Design Center” of the university is completely dedicated to female students. The center launches new programs for female students and keeps on planning to help female students in taking career decision after their graduation. Efforts are being made to open the avenues of employment for women students. Through the center, female students are educated for job hunting skills, as well as basic skills so that they can live their life with full of confidence after completing university education. In Japanese, "Joshigakusei" mean female students. Some of the major programs which are run by this center for female students.

Admission policy at HIT

At HIT, graduate school major program and undergraduate faculty admission policy is developed in accordance with their school philosophy and motto and is focused on welcoming students with the potential to achieve the academic goals set forth in the diploma policy. In line with HIT admissions policy, they take in applicants who will be active, self-driven students that respond to the distinctive curriculum of education and research being developed at HIT by becoming ethical engineers and technical experts who contribute to society.

If we talk about the total students in the academic year of 2021, the total number of all the departments together is 4,616 students. On the other hand, if we talk about the total number of faculty, then all the departments together are 173.

Session of the HIT

There are three sessions in the university, the summer session which is from August to September. Winter session this is from December to January. The third session is the end of the academic year which is from February to March. The first session of the university starts with the orientation program and the last session on campus combined company information round.

Admission and Tuition fee

To get admission in HIT, you have to get good rank in the university entrance exam. Domestic students as well as foreign students can also apply for study in this university.

The fee structure is different for each course in the university.

 Entrance exam fee is 15000 yen, exempted for HIT students. Admission fee is 25000 yen, half-exempted for HIT students. Enrollment fees are 20,000 yen per-credit; half-exempted for HIT students. The annual admission fee to the graduate school is 250,000 yen. The annual tuition fee is 1,010,000 yen.

According to Center for World University Ranking, HIT on a 1498 rank in a world ranking and 97 in national ranking.  According to US news ranking agencies Hiroshima Institute of Technology is unranked in Best Global Universities. According to QS ranking, the world ranking of HIT is 5567 and national ranking is 361.

Housing services

HIT has owns and operates a residence hall for foreign students. There are residence hall for accommodate for guest which number is 17, this is an off-campus accommodations, within commuting distance. It’s about a 40-minute bicycle-ride from the campus or a 5 minute walk from Takasu Station on Hiroden Miyajima Line. 

HIT’s Library

The HIT campus has its own three-storey library; on the first floor there is space for newspapers, reading room and office. On the second floor there are only reading rooms, and on the third floor there are academic journals, audio-video library and some other facilities. The library has about 250,000 books, 4000 academic journals and about 7000 audio-video materials.
