Jadavpur University History
Jadavpur University is a public university located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It has achieved autonomous university status by UGC in 2018. It was founded in 1906 by the name of Bengal Technical Institute. After the independence of India, the institute was converted into a university. The University of Calcutta is one of the three universities in early modern India, the other two being Bombay and Madras University. It was established by the British in Calcutta in 1861 as a means of spreading western philosophical thought among the elite in India.

Jadavpur University Campuses
Jadavpur University is semi-residential, which at present operates out of two urban campuses one in Jadavpur and another in Salt Lake. The University has recently acquired the erstwhile National Instruments Limited becoming the first Indian university to acquire such a research unit. It is situated in a nine-acre plot opposite the main campus. The NIL campus is to be connected to the main campus by an underground tunnel to bypass the traffic on the busy Raja S.C. Mullick Road.
Jadavpur University Achievements and USP
Jadavpur University Offers Concession in fees in terms of the full and half free ship is given to those needy and commendable students who cannot afford their fees on the recommendation of Departments, also a maximum of 10% students are covered under the full free ship. Also, Stipends are awarded on the means-cum-merit basis. For students, some numbers of subsidies have been made with the University by some charitable persons from which nearly 80 stipends can be allocated among the needy ones, one-fourth of the scholarship may possibly go to the 1st year students.
