Jichi medical University was established in the year 1972. It is a private university which is situated in Tochigi in Japan. It has a long history of development in which many of its schools, both medical and nursing schools, were started. Its mission is to improve medical facilities in the poor areas.

U.S. News and World Report has ranked the university among the top 100 universities in Japan and it comes among the top universities for its teaching in surgery.
