Kazakh British Technical University History
Kazakh British Technical University also known as KBTU was founded in 2001 in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. The university was founded as a result of a memorandum of understanding signed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the British Council. The idea of setting up the university was the vision of former President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Kazakh British Technical University has its IT courses accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), USA and its oil and gas programs by Institution of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (IMaeEST), United Kingdom. Kazakh British Technical University Business School also known as KBTU Business School is one of the few institutions to receive prestigious ACBSP (The Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs) accreditation. All the programs offered at the KBTU Business School are ACBSP accredited.
