King Juan Carlos University is a public university which is located in the southern area of the Community of Madrid, Spain. The university was established in the year 1996 by the Government of Madrid. King Juan Carlos University is one of the eight universities in the Community of Madrid, and it is the second- newest university in a community of Madrid.

The University of the Elderly is a Program of Studies aimed at those over fifty years of age who maintain the desire to acquire new knowledge, be open to new experiences and desire more personal satisfaction. The university has more than 1,904 administrative staff including 45,458 students.

King Juan Carlos University, In 2007 Juan Velarde Fuertes, IñakiGabilondo, Luis del Olmo and Antonio Mingote were awarded honorary doctorates from King Juan Carlos University. In 2011, honorary doctorates were awarded to HaraldzurHausen, Ramón Tamames, and Peter Waldmann. The Rey Juan Carlos University has among its aims to contribute to productive development and social welfare by transferring knowledge and technology through the establishment of collaboration channels with different productive sectors and public or private institutions, through agreements, contracts, and structures that implement the Organic Law 6/2001, of December 21, of Universities, modified by the Organic Law 4/2007, of April 12 and both in a national and international environment.
