National Chung Hsing University History

National Chung Hsing University commonly known as NCHU is a university located in South District of Taichung, Taiwan. The university was established on 1919 as Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry subsequently being re-organized, upgraded, and merged with various institutes in 1928, 1946, and 1961 respectively. It was conferred university status in 1971 and adopted its present name.

National Chung Hsing University comprises of nine colleges offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level programs in subjects like Engineering, Agriculture, Natural Resources, Computer Science, Law, Politics, Life Sciences, Management, Veterinary Medicine, and Liberal Arts.
National Chung Hsing University is one the premier institutions in the country to offer a Taiwan International Graduate Program in the subject of Biological and Molecular Agriculture Sciences in collaboration with a prestigious research institute called Academia Sinica.

National Chung Hsing University’s Taichung campus serves as the primary campus of the university with most of the colleges and administrative buildings. The campus is spread over an area of 53 hectares in south of the city centre. National Chung Hsing University also comprises of experimental farms and forests in Wufeng District and Wuri District in Taichung city and New Taipei, Nantou County, Taichung City, and Tainan City respectively for students of Agriculture and Natural Resources programs.
