Tunis University History                                       

Tunis University also known as Universite de Tunis is a higher education establishment located in the city of Tunis in Tunisia. The university was established by the merger of older institutions in 1960 and presently enrolls over 28000 students.

Tunis University is home to 17 schools and institutes which offer a wide range of programs in number of subjects to choose from. Some of the programs include Economic and Commercial Sciences, Technological Sciences, Human and Social Sciences, Engineering, Literary Studies, and Humanities.

Tunis University also offers programs in Dramatic Arts, Cultural Studies, Fine Arts and Design, Music and Film Studies, Management and Business, Heritage Studies, and Craft Studies. The Tunis Engineering Preparatory School, an integral part of the university prepares students to undertake a degree in Engineering at the university.

Tunis University has its campus located in the city of Tunis in Tunisia. The campus is urban and comprises of traditional buildings situated close to the Mediterranean Sea. The campus is close to all the shopping, recreational, and shopping facilities and is connected with the rest of the city via public transportation.

Tunis University is also affiliated to the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie and is a member of UNIMED, also known as Mediterranean University Union. It is also counted as one of the largest universities in the country.

Tunis University participates in the ERASMUS+ scheme of the European Union which allows its students to study abroad in number of universities in Europe. The university has also partnered with the German organization DAAD amongst others.
