University of A Coruna History

The University of A Coruna is a Spanish public university located in the city of A Coruna, Galicia in Spain. It was established in the year 1989 fully independent from the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The University of A Coruna, the Industrial Campus is made up of six schools and faculties, offering a total of eleven undergraduate degrees, seven Master's and six PhDs, all within the two areas of specialization for which the campus of Ferrol is renowned: Engineering Industrial, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. The University of A Coruña is home to over 1,600 teachers and researchers working across different areas of knowledge, from the arts, humanities and social and legal sciences, to health sciences, science, engineering, and architecture. The university has more than 18169 students including 8,000 undergraduate students and 1,200 postgraduate students (Ph.D.).

The University of A Coruna has 3 campuses, the one is known as University of Santiago de Compostela based in Santiago de Compostela, with a campus in Lugo. The other one is the University of A Coruna which is based in Ferrol. The last one is the University of Vigo with campuses in Ourense and Pontevedra. The university has a library on the campus.

The University of A Coruna, The XX National Awards for University Publishing, organized by the UNE, have been awarded, which rewards publishers for the best books published in 2016. The Campus Innovation responds to the impact of innovation on economic growth and business development, consolidating the University of A Coruña as a pole of knowledge of excellence in digital, technological and humanistic innovation. As part of its commitment to progress and innovation, the University of A Coruña has established a technology park as an R & D & I hub for businesses. The park is a dual-campus complex comprising research centers in both Elviña and Ferrol and is supported by both public and private sector bodies. The aim of the project is to continue to facilitate direct contact between university researchers and private companies.

The University of A Coruna, ranked 41 in the year 2016 by National Rank in Spain. A scientific article of the research group Science and Technology Cybernetics, awarded in Ávila at the International Conference DCAI.
