University of Almeria History

Almería University is a public university located in Almería, Spain. Located on the Mediterranean Sea shore, it is part of Almería City's La Cañada de San Urbano district. With 871 lecturers and 11,628 students, the University offered 38 different degree programs in 2008.

The University of Almería offers a range of 32 bachelor degrees, 41 master degrees and 14 doctoral degrees. There are eight colleges of teaching: health sciences, economics, business studies, natural sciences, education, law, experimental science, humanities, and psychology. The research work of UAL is largely linked to its financial environment, focusing on solar energy, agriculture and water management. With more than 7,000 agreements with other institutes and companies, more than 100 patents registered and more than 6,000 works published in Web of Science, the University of Almería has a strong commitment to research and studies. UAL offers summer and tailor-made programs in addition to formal education, and organizes a summer school with over 20 summer courses each year.
