University of Calcutta History                                          

The University of Calcutta colloquially known as Calcutta University and CU is an Indian higher education institution located in Kolkata earlier known as Calcutta in West Bengal. The university was established under the aegis of British Government in India in 1857 and currently enrols over 22500 students.
