University of Latvia History

The University of Latvia also known as LU or Latvijas Universitate is a public university located in the city of Riga in Latvia. The university was established in 1919 as Higher School of Latvia and adopted its present name in 1923. The university is one of the largest universities in the country and enrolls over 15,000 students.

The University of Latvia comprises of thirteen faculties offering a wide range of programs. The faculties are Medicine, Law, History and Philosophy, Geography and Earth sciences, Education, Psychology and Arts, Business, Economics and Management, Physics, Mathematics and Optometry, Chemistry, Biology, Computing, Theology, Social Sciences, and Humanities.

The University of Latvia offers programs in subjects like Hydrobiology, Microbiology and Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Zoology and Animal Ecology, Optometry and Vision Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Finance and Accounting, Management Sciences, Pedagogy, Psychology, and Teacher Training to name a few.
