University of Mysore History

University of Mysore was established in the year 1916. It is a public and state university which is situated in Mysore in India. It was started during the reign of Maharaja of Mysore. It was the first outside the British Administration in India. It was also the first university to open in Karnataka and 6th in India.

University of Mysore Programs, Courses and Schools 

University of Mysore is organised into six academic faculties, institutes, 180 affiliated college and four constituent colleges. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral courses. Students can also apply for research, trainings, diploma, certificate, PG diploma and can take admission in evening college.

Most of the faculties of the university hold doctoral or master’s degree in their area of study. The university also offers employment oriented courses and trainings and distance learning opportunities. Placements are offered at the end of the degree course. It is known for the research work performed.

University of Mysore Campuses

University of Mysore has an urban campus with nature friendly and huge infrastructure. The campus has got lake. Student services include museum, scientific instrumentation facility, auditorium, study centre, recognition centres, banking services, cafeteria, printing press, healthcare centre, information centre, internet access, postal services, gym, stadium, pool, transportation and no smoking zones. There are student clubs and organisations. Student media has Prasaranga.

Central library is equipped with books, theses, research guides, research projects, journals, publications and periodicals. It has got multimedia model including databases, tutorials, digital library, computer systems, internet services and projector installed study rooms. Departmental libraries are also available.

University of Mysore Achievements and USP

University of Mysore is a renowned university of the country. It has been ranked 54th in the university rankings and 80th in overall ranking by NIRF. QS BRICS has ranked it among top 350 universities of Asia. It has got h-index of 66 for its published researches. It became the first university of Karnataka to achieve 5 stars accreditation. It has received various grants due to its excellence.

University offers financial assistance to the students in the form of scholarships, loans and grants. Students have to meet the set eligibility criteria to achieve these.
