The University of Palermo Italy is located in Palermo and was formally established in 1806. The university dates back to 1498 when only medicine and law were taught at the campus. After the unification of Italy in 1860, the university was modernized and more courses were added. The university today enrolls over 50,000 students taught by 2000 professors.
