University of Sonora History

University of Sonora was established in the year 1942. It is a public university which is situated in Sonora in Mexico. It went through the development of different academic departments and facilities with time. It has seen four historic periods of its establishment. Its main aim is to spread culture and education in the community.

University of Sonora Programs, Courses and Schools

University of Sonora is organised into six colleges and four research institutes which are further divided into various departments. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs. Additional courses include research studies, student exchange program, continuing education and e-learning.

It is the home to more than 42000 students and highly qualified and skilled professors and teachers. Students can also apply for language programs, specialisation courses and scholarship programs. University of Sonora has three regional units with urban infrastructure and historical academic buildings. Its modern campus offers services like eating outlets, cafeterias, theatre, recreational area, study centres, sport courts and rooms, gym, museum, innovation labs, healthcare unit, innovation labs and student support centre. It is has radio channel and TV channel as a part of their editorial units. Students can become the member of student clubs and organisations.

University’s library is the most up-to-date library with multi-storey departmental arrangement of books, catalogues, periodicals, guides and study materials. Databases, virtual library, online trainings, computer labs, study rooms, sitting area, loan services, internet access and printing services are available.

It comes among the top 20 universities of the country and among top 2000 universities of the world. It is ranked at 5^th place in the Mexican University Ranking Survey by Mexican National Centre for Evaluation for Higher Education.
