Yamaguchi University History

Yamaguchi University is a national university located in Yamaguchi, Japan. It was established in the year 1894 as a Yamaguchi Higher School as a national institute of higher education and in 1964 Yamaguchi Prefectural Medical College was merged into the university to form the School of Medicine.

Yamaguchi University has 3 campuses. The first came is Yoshida campus it offers faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Agriculture. The second campus is Kogushi campus it offers School of Medicine. The third campus is Tokiwa campus it offers Faculty of Engineering.

Yamaguchi University Achievements

Yamaguchi University was awarded for “Best Teacher”, “Outstanding Contribution to Educational Administrative Affairs” by President Katoh. On November 1st, 2016, an award ceremony was held to award an honorary doctorate from Yamaguchi University to Prof. Michael Isaac Tribelsky of Moscow State University in Russia, an academic exchange partnership school of Yamaguchi University.

Yamaguchi University ranked 45th in National University Rankings and 718 in World University Rankings in the year 2016. The University also ranked 1001+ by World University Rankings and 101-200th by University Impact Ranking in 2019. It also ranked 52nd in Japan University Rankings in the year 2019.
