Yazd University History

Yazd University was established in the year 1989. It is a public university which is situated in Yazd in Ira. It is a state funded research institute. It was formed after the merger of various old institutes. Its ancestral institution is University College Yazd. It has shown rapid growth over the past few years.

Yazd University Programs, Courses and Schools

Yazd University is organised into three academic faculties, two autonomous schools and two independent faculties. Courses are offered in more than 100 fields in around 29 departments. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in various area of study.

Most of the faculties hold doctoral degrees and are expert in their area of study. Students can also apply for other programs like research, language courses, virtual learning and trainings. It has more than 14,000 students recruited in the campus. Educational conferences and workshops are organised.

Yazd University Campuses

Yazd University campus is 150 hectares with urban and rural infrastructure. It is an active campus with green surroundings. Student services include cafeteria, campus store, gardens, recreational area, healthcare centre, innovation labs, indoor courts, pool, sports grounds, gym, auditorium, postal services and internet access. There are student clubs and organisations. University media has publications. Cultural and sports events are organised throughout the year.

Central Library is a modern infrastructure stocked with books, documents, periodicals, journals, magazines, research guides, catalogues, archives and manuscripts. Databases, computer systems, e-resources, digital library, departmental sections, help desk and high-tech study rooms are available.
