Eastern Mediterranean University is a state university which was established in 1979. The university is located in Famagusta, North Cyprus. 

Eastern Mediterranean University comprises twelve faculties; Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Arts & Sciences, Faculty of Business & Economics, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Tourism. The university has six schools such as School of Business and Finance, School of Computing and Technology, School of Health Services, School of Justice, School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, School of Foreign Languages, and English Preparatory School. The university also comprises six institutes; Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, Institute of Advanced Technology and Research and Development, Institute Of Distance Education. 

Eastern Mediterranean University has more than 20,000 students from 106 different countries. 

Eastern Mediterranean University provides scholarships to all kinds of students on the basis of academic excellence. The university has Tennis courts, basketball courts and astro-turf football pitches for daily use. The students can join all kinds of sports activities and get trained by professional instructors. The university gives scholarships to successful athletes. University owns a radio station on called Radio EMU which broadcasts to the whole Island and is run by students of the Communications department. The university also comprises a library which is one of the largest on the island, it has a collection of more than 120,000 books and offers free access to hundreds of information databases and sources to the users.
