Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is located in Kanpur, India and began its functioning in a borrowed building of Harcourt Butler Technological Institute. It was established by the Government of India in the year 1959 with 100 students and a small faculty. The Institute now has its own widespread residential campus with about 2255 undergraduate, 1476 postgraduate students, 309 faculties, and more than 900 supporting staff.
