Tezpur University History

Tezpur University is a central university located in Tezpur in the northeastern state of Assam, India, which was founded in 1994 by a Parliament Act.The establishment of Tezpur University, along with the establishment of Assam University and Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, is considered to be one of the results of the Assam Agreement. An Act of Parliament established Tezpur University in 1994. India's then prime minister, P. V. Narasimha Rao, chaired the university's opening.

The university has four study schools that are divided into 21 departments and additional centers and cells. School of Sciences, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Management Sciences.

Tezpur University Campuses

The campus of the university is about 15 km east of Tezpur at Napaam, the headquarters of Assam's Sonitpur district. The campus of Napaam is in a 600-acre plot of land. The campus is bounded by walls of the pucca.

Tezpur University Achievements

The University of Tezpur is selected for the period 2015 - 20 as a Participating Institute under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) project of the Ministry of IT. For the period 2015 - 2020, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering is selected for UGC SAP DRS - II in the field of Big Data Analytics- Bioinformatics, Network Security and Robotics. The Department is nominated as a BRICS Network University Participant by UGC. B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering is accredited (provisionally for 2 years) by the National Accreditation Board.
