Tokyo Metropolitan University History

Tokyo Metropolitan University is a Public Research University in Japan. The origin of the University was Prefectural Higher School, which comes under the old system of education; it was established by Tokyo Prefecture in 1929 as the third public higher school. The University was reformed in 2005 by combining three metropolitan universities and one junior college: Tokyo Metropolitan University, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology, Tokyo Metropolitan University of Health Sciences, and Tokyo Metropolitan College, The English name of the university has not changed since 1949.

Tokyo Metropolitan University offers three faculties, such as Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Technology. They also provide three years of advanced course and four years of regular course which is restructured to Liberal Arts College and other faculties. There are Five Prefectural Colleges, such as Tokyo Prefectural College of Science, College of Machine Industry, College of Technology, College of Chemical Industry and College of Women it was combined to Tokyo Metropolitan University.

Tokyo Metropolitan University comprises of Five Campuses such as Minami-Osawa Campus, Hino Campus, Arakawa Campus, Harumi Campus, and Marunouchi Satellite Campus.

There are three ways to apply for scholarships such as embassy recommendation, university recommendation, and domestic selection. There are very few slots available for this scholarship in all three categories, and the selection processes are very competitive.
