University of Calabria History

University of Calabria located in Arcavacata, Italy was founded in the year 1972 is a university run by the state government. The university is well known amongst the top universities in Italy. It has the strength of over 35,000 students with 800 teaching faculties and a number of administrative staff.

The University of Calabria offers courses at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level in a range of subjects such as Civil Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Geosciences, Chemistry, Humanistic Studies, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

The University of Calabria offers a specialized program called single-cycle master's degree courses which is a 6-year program offered in the departments of Biology, Ecology, and Earth Sciences, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, Building Engineering-Architecture, Corporate and Legal Sciences, and Primary Education Sciences.

The University of Calabria is spread across 200 hectares and comprises of a series of cube-shaped buildings and a place for 14 departments, 77 courses of study, 2 specialization schools, and 13 inter-departmental centers. Apart from the academic front the university houses various eye-catching architectural museums and wide-spread botanical gardens, canteen, and one of the largest libraries in Southern Italy.

There is a Special Corner for Music and Entertainment which organizes annual events such as concerts, Film Festivals and other international and college events for students and staff.
