University of Extremadura History

University of Extremadura also known as Universidad de Extremadura and UNEX is a Spanish public institution located in the state of Extremadura. The university was established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Spain in 1973 and currently enrols over 24500 students across four campuses.

University of Extremadura Programs, Courses, and Schools

University of Extremadura comprises of a number of faculties which offer 64 undergraduate programs and 32 graduate programs in a wide range of subjects such as Mathematics, Enology, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Materials Engineering.

University of Extremadura also offers programs in Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Economics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Education, Medicine, Law, Veterinary Sciences, Sports sciences, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Business, and Tourism Management.

University of Extremadura Campuses

University of Extremadura has four campuses located in Plasencia, Badajoz, Merida, and Cacares out of which the Badajoz campus serves as the administrative headquarters of the university. All the campuses are urban and offer world class facilities to students.

University of Extremadura offers facilities such as modern teaching premises, laboratories, well-stocked libraries, and student halls of residence. The campus in Plasencia is located within the walled city in a 19th century building and houses the university’s faculty of Medicine. The campus also offers recreation centers, health facilities, and dining options.

University of Extremadura is placed in 201+ bracket in Times Higher Education European Teaching Rankings 2018. The university is also ranked amongst top 800 universities in the world in ARWU Academic Ranking of World Universities in 2020.

University of Extremadura is accredited by the Ministry of Universities of Spain and is ranked 37th in the country by UniRank. It is also ranked 877the globally by UniRank and is affiliated to European University Association or EUA.
