The University of Pretoria is a South African university located in Pretoria. It began its journey from a small little house known as Kya Rosa in the year 1908. The university started its working with the first batch of 32 students and 4 professors. Now, the university is spread over 1,200 hectares with more than 49,000 students.

The University of Pretoria has 9 major faculties namely Economics and Management, Sciences, Education, Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, Natural and Agricultural Sciences, Theology and Religion, Veterinary Science and 1 business school called Gordon Institute of Business Sciences. The university has 85 research centers.
The University of Pretoria offers courses at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level in 140 academic departments with subjects like Languages, Literature & Linguistics, Communication & Media Studies, Agriculture & Forestry, Mathematics & Statistics, Archaeology, Architecture, Accounting & Finance, Psychology, Mechanical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering.

The University of Pretoria has a huge campus area of 1,200 hectares with accommodation and other facilities for the students. The accommodation on the campus has the first cum first serve rule. The students can also rent apartments near the university. They are provided with 24 hours of Wi-Fi service and other necessary services such as emergencies, and health services.
The University of Pretoria has launched a project called The Green Route Project where the safety and security of students and campus staff is taken care of while they travel to and fro from the university. The university organizes various events for students and also offers various indoor and outdoor games to boost their energy in non-academic areas.

The University of Pretoria is ranked 600 amongst other universities in the world by the Times Higher Education World University ranking (THE). The QS world university ranks the university 4th in South Africa and 480th in the world universities ranking. The university is now listed among the top universities in the continent.
The University of Pretoria has many former students who now stand high in the field of sports some of them are Heyneke Meyer, FAF du Plessis, Cameron van der Burgh, L. J. van Zyl, and Burger Lambrechts.
University of Pretoria USP
University of Pretoria acceptance rate is average. The university established a Faculty of Veterinary Science in 1920 and is the only veterinary school in South Africa. The university is a member of the South African Museums Association (SAMA), International Council of Museums (ICOM), African Council of Museums (AFRICOM) and University Museums and Collections (UMAC) for its vast collections that depict the culture and tradition of South Africa.
