University of Vigo History

The University of Vigo a Spanish higher education institution situated in the city of Vigo and was established in the year 1990. It is a public university with its premises spread over three campuses. Currently, the university has an enrollment of more than 25000 students and employs over 1500 academic staff.

University of Vigo Programs, Courses, and Schools

The University of Vigo offers courses at the graduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The university also offers a joint program and double degrees. The university has 122 masters and degree programs, 39 doctoral programs, 4 joint program degrees, and 4 double degree programs which are linked with other foreign universities. Distance learning programs are also offered for selective courses by the university.

The University of Vigo has three campuses which comprise of institutes and research centers such as School of Industrial Engineering, Superior Technical School of Telecommunication Engineering, Center of Technological and Scientific Support for Investigation, School of Teaching for Primary Education, School of Nursing, School of Business Studies, and Superior Technical School of Mining Engineering. The university offers courses in a number of faculties namely Science, Technology, Social Science, Law, Tourism, Physiotherapy, and Social Media.

University of Vigo Campus

The University of Vigo has three major campuses namely Ourense campus, Pontevedra campus, Vigo campus with more than 30 training and research centers and various other services for sports and leisure. The university has a lively environment with lots of events and cultural programs which take place at regular intervals. The three campuses provide 360-degree development of the students with equal importance given to education with fun. Accommodation with all the necessary services is provided by the university.

The University of Vigo has 11 libraries with its central library located in Vigo Campus. The university has a separate corner for sports and socio-cultural activities wherein students get the chance to enhance their strategic thinking and problem-solving ability. The university also has its own conference hall, research centers, and laboratories which makes teaching-learning process more effective.

University of Vigo Achievements

The University of Vigo is ranked 801st worldwide by the QS World University Rankings 2019 whereas the Times Higher Education (THE) has listed the university in the top 600 universities worldwide.

The University of Vigo is one of the few universities who have successfully sent two microsatellites in space.

University of Vigo USP

The University of Vigo has an acceptance rate of more than 80% which makes it a highly selective institute. Financial aid and grants are offered for study and research purpose only for students who reside outside the country.

The University of Vigo publishes its own journal called Thalassa which is regarded as highly prestigious publication in the field of Marine Sciences.
