Kanazawa University History

Kanazawa University was established in the year 1949 and is located in Kanazawa, the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture. The origin of the University goes back to the year 1862 when Hikoso Vaccination Center was established. A selected group of schools then formed the Kanazawa University.

Kanazawa University Programs, Courses, and Schools

The University offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. For undergraduate courses, the University comprises of 3 colleges and 16 schools under them. Whereas, there are 5 departments in the Graduate School at Kanazawa University. An interesting feature of the University is that it offers flexibility in the learning of a student. A student is allowed to select his/her own themes of study in a broader framework as opposed to the mainstream faculties and departments procedure. This ensures that the basic learning of the students is solidified through this flexibility.

Kanazawa University Campuses

The two main campuses of the University are Kakum and Takaramachi. The University holds various research facilities such as Central Library, Natural Science and Technology Library, Medical Branch Library, University Hospital, and Cancer Research Institute.

Kanazawa University USP and Achievements

The University offers a voluntary learning menu and follows the “Progressive Selection System”. This is a vital element in choosing the study based on the student’s aspirations and ambitions. It is a University for the society as it focuses on working on the research results that they conduct for the betterment of the community. Some of the topics that the University puts light on are preservation and utilization of cultural resources, a solution to energy problems, and measures for declining birthrate and aging.
