Oslo National Academy of Arts was founded in 1996. It is a public university college situated in Oslo, Norway. It is one of the public colleges in Norway which teaches Visual Arts and Design program.

University History

In 1996 Oslo National Academy of Arts was founded. The institution was established after the merger of five independents colleges-

  • The National Academy of Craft and Art Industry, founded in 1818
  • The National Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 1909
  • The National Academy of Theatre, founded in 1952
  • The National Academy of Opera, founded in 1964
  • The National Academy of Ballet, founded in 1979
  • These former colleges are now categorized in three faculties of the Oslo National Academy of Arts: the Faculty of Design, the Faculty of Performing Arts and the Faculty of Visual Arts respectively.

Oslo National Academy of the Arts is Norway's largest college of higher education in the field of arts. The campus is home to more than 550 students, 200 employees and more than 900 guest teachers and teachers on short-term contracts. The campus consists of workshops, and workplaces and provides a library, a gallery and exhibition rooms, a canteen open to all, well-equipped workshops and light, spacious classrooms/studios for convenient study.

Students staying in Norway for more than six months must go to a tax office for an ID check and submit a notification of change of address, no later than eight days after arrival in Norway.

EU/EEA citizens

Students from the European Economic Area (EU- and Swiss citizens) do not need to apply for a residence permit; however, you are required to register in The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) Application Portal, if you are staying for more than 3 months. When registering you must book an appointment with the police in order to receive a residence card.

Non-EU/EEA citizens

Students from outside the European Economic Area must register in The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration’s (UDI) Application Portal. When registering you must book an appointment with the police in order to receive a residence card.

Documentation of finances
