The University Of Kerala History

Kerala University (UoK), is an affiliated university located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, India, South Indian state. The University of Kerala was founded in 1937 as Travancore University in the former princely state of Travancore, one of the first 16 universities in India and the first in the state of Kerala.

The University Of Kerala Programs, Courses, and Schools

In addition to study centers and other departments, the University has seventeen faculties and forty - one teaching and research departments. Extension of teaching, research and knowledge is the departments ' mandate. They focus primarily on postgraduate programs (masters), MPhil programs (1-year degree in research) and doctoral research. The University also has a number of specialized study centers such as Nanotechnology, Kerala Studies, Bioinformatics, Women's Studies, Learning Difficulties, Sree Narayana Studies, Gandhian Studies, etc. Some of these centers have taught (Certificate / Diploma / Masters / Mphil) programs and many are offering Ph.D. programs.

The University Of Kerala Campuses

The University had three campuses in three different parts of the state viz. Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kozhikode. In 1968, however, the University Center at Kozhikode became a full-fledged university, the University of Calicut, affiliating the colleges in Kerala's districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Kannur, and transforming the Kozhikkode Center into university departments.

The 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranked the University of Kerala 801 - 1000 in the world. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked it 47 overall in India in 2018 and 30 among universities.
