University of Miskolc History

University of Miskolc was established in the year 1949. It is a public university which is situated in Miskolc in Hungary. It is formed in continuation of University of Mining and Metallurgy of Selmecbanya which was founded in 1735. It got its current recognition from Technical University of Heavy Industry when it moved to Miskolc.

University of Miskolc Programs, Courses and Schools

University of Miskolc is organised into seven academic faculties, two institutes, two research institutes and one academy. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in various disciplines of study. Other courses include research, study abroad program, language courses and distance education.

It is the home to more than 800 skilled faculties and more than 15,000 students. Students can also apply for advanced vocational program, post-graduate trainings, scholarship program, double-degree program, international ambassador program and summer program. It is highly advanced university.

University of Miskolc Campuses

University of Miskolc has a huge campus covering an area of 850,000 square metres with modern buildings and green surroundings. Students are provided with amenities like cafeteria, museums, archives, complex, IT services, student centre, wifi access, sports facility, fitness centre, theatre, cultural centre, healthcare centre, auditorium, labs and innovation halls. Student clubs and councils organises cultural and academic events. Magazines and publications are published in the university press.

Central library is stocked with books, study material, exam papers, publications, journals, research guides, archives, catalogues and periodicals. Computer labs, databases, e-services, digital library, study rooms, lecture rooms, online renewal and borrowing services and sitting area are available.

University of Miskolc is the biggest university of Northern Hungary. It is ranked among the top 9% universities of the world with it being among the top 10 universities of the country. Webometrics has ranked it among the top 2000 universities of the world. QS World University Rankings has ranked it among the top 1000 universities of the world. It holds 121^st position according to EECA. It has won many other awards.

Scholarships, loans and grants are awarded to the students by the university and other organisations. Students have to meet the set criteria and apply for these.
